1. Introduction

Nudge ("we," "us," or "our") operates the website nudgeledger.com and associated Discord bots, APIs, and mobile applications (collectively, the "Service"). This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Nudge is a payment router and workflow automation tool — not a bank, payment processor, or financial intermediary. We never hold, transfer, or process money on your behalf.

2. Data We Collect

2.1 Account Data

• Email address and name (via email signup)
• Discord user ID, username, and avatar URL (via Discord OAuth with identify and email scopes)

2.2 Financial Data

• Debt amounts, descriptions, and transaction history
• Payment handles (e.g., Venmo username, Cash App cashtag)
• Poker staking records (buy-ins, markups, cashouts, backer allocations)

2.3 Usage Data

• Activity logs (debt created, nudge sent, stake opened, payment confirmed, etc.)

2.4 Device & Analytics Data

• Push notification tokens (for mobile app notifications, when applicable)
• Page views, button clicks, and feature usage events (via PostHog)
• Device type, browser, operating system, and approximate location (country-level, via IP)
• Referral source and session duration

2.5 Connector Data (AI-Parsed Messages)

When the Nudge bot is installed in a Discord server, messages in channels the bot can access are analyzed by Google Gemini Flash, an AI model, to detect debt-related conversations (e.g., "cover me for pizza, $18"). This processing happens in real time and is used solely to surface potential debts for user confirmation.

We do not store raw message content long-term. Only extracted debt metadata (amount, description, involved parties) is stored after a user confirms the detection.

3. How We Use Your Data

• To provide and maintain the Service (debt tracking, staking, settlements, reminders)
• To generate payment deep links to third-party apps (Venmo, Cash App)
• To send notifications via Discord DM, email, SMS, or WhatsApp
• To detect debts from natural conversation using AI (with disclosure)
• To calculate analytics such as net balances, ROI, and leaderboards
• To process subscription billing via Stripe (Pro Grinder and Server Premium plans)
• To analyze product usage and improve the Service (via PostHog analytics)

4. Ghost Profiles

When a user logs a debt against someone who has not yet signed up for Nudge, we create a "ghost profile" containing their Discord identity (user ID and username). The referenced person receives a Discord DM inviting them to claim the profile and review the recorded debt.

Ghost profiles contain only the minimal data needed to identify the person and associate debts. They are converted to full accounts upon claiming, or deleted upon request.

5. Third-Party Services

We share data with the following third-party services as necessary to operate Nudge:

We do not sell your personal data to any third party. Data is shared with the services above only to the extent required for the Service to function.

6. Payments and Financial Intermediation

Nudge does not process payments. When a user settles a debt, Nudge generates a deep link that opens Venmo, Cash App, or another payment app with pre-filled details. The actual payment is handled entirely by the third-party payment app.

Nudge does not hold funds, act as an escrow, or serve as a financial intermediary. Because we never touch money, Nudge is not subject to KYC (Know Your Customer) regulations.

7. Data Retention

Transaction data and account information are retained for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, your data will be removed from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Activity logs may be retained in anonymized form for analytics and service improvement.

8. Your Rights

You may:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your transaction history
• Opt out of AI-powered message parsing by removing the bot from your server

9. Age Requirements

Nudge is intended for users aged 13 and older, consistent with Discord's minimum age requirement. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we become aware that a user is under 13, we will promptly delete their account and data.

10. Security

We use industry-standard security measures including encrypted connections (TLS), secure authentication via Supabase Auth and Discord OAuth, and access controls on our infrastructure. However, no system is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security of your data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
